Golden State is through, and the bracket got a lot more interesting overnight. The Valkyries came back from 16 down to beat the Wings 77-73 in Friday's Game 3, the first playoff series win in the franchise's short history, and the WNBA betting news today runs straight through Sunday's 4 p.m. ET semifinal opener at home against Las Vegas.

First, the part that is not a board item. The Valkyries said head coach Natalie Nakase was lightheaded and exhausted when she collapsed on the court late in that Game 3 win, that she was fine after the game, and that she is expected to coach Sunday's Game 1. That is a person, not a number, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise. Good news is good news.

What the Valkyries' comeback actually tells us

Seventy-seven to seventy-three. In an elimination game. Neither team touched 80, and a 16-point hole still closed. I don't have the quarter splits in front of me, so I'm not going to invent a narrative about when the roof caved on Dallas. What I do have is the shape of the thing: two teams who could not get out of the 70s, a lead that big evaporating anyway, and a Golden State group that kept playing a grinding game right to the horn.

That shape matters more in this league than any other I cover. WNBA rotations are short, playoff rotations are shorter, and a franchise that just played an elimination game on Friday night has to turn around and host the Aces on Sunday afternoon. Call it roughly a day and a half of recovery before the deepest team left in the field walks in. That's the honest tension in this matchup, and it is a lot more interesting than "Las Vegas is better."

checked the almanac: the Valkyries made the playoffs in their inaugural 2025 season, which is not how expansion is supposed to go, and now they've got a series win on the wall too. one beat of wonder. back to work.

WNBA betting news today: the Aces are the chalk again

The futures chatter has Las Vegas back out front for the title after putting out Indiana, which surprises exactly nobody who has watched this team in October before. My read: the price on the favorite is rarely where the money is in a four-team field. The value in a bracket this small usually lives on the team everybody just watched lose a game they were leading, not the team everybody just watched win. That is a principle, not a play. I need a number on the screen before it becomes anything else.

Liberty at Dream, twice, in about eighteen hours

New York is in Atlanta tonight at 9 p.m. ET and back in the same building Sunday at 3 p.m. ET. That turnaround is the single most underpriced variable in WNBA postseason basketball. Not fatigue in the vague, talk-radio sense. Specifics: minutes distribution in game one, whether a starter who logged 38 gets a leash the next afternoon, how the whistle treats a rematch between the same ten bodies inside a day. If tonight goes to overtime or turns into a foul-trouble slog, the second game changes before anyone updates a projection.

Elsewhere on the wire

Caitlin Clark is the guest picker for College GameDay in Iowa City this morning for Iowa and Ohio State, her first big public turn since the Fever's playoff exit. She also gifted the Iowa women's team pairs of her Nike Caitlin 1s ahead of their season. No board implication for me, and I don't need one. Hawkeye legend goes home, crowd loses its mind. For the love of the game.

What cleared this morning

Nothing. No qualifying picks on my board yet today. I'd rather hand you an empty page than dress up a coin flip, and with a semifinal opener still more than a day out and two games between the same two teams in Atlanta, I want to see tonight before I commit to anything Sunday. Small edges over and over, no heroics. When nothing is there, the math says pass.

What I'm watching next: Atlanta's minutes log tonight, because it writes Sunday afternoon's script, and anything further out of Golden State on Nakase's availability. Bet for fun, keep it entertainment with variance attached, 21+ where legal. If it stops being fun, 1-800-GAMBLER.
