Word came down this morning that Tyson Bagent is expected to start at quarterback for Chicago against the Jets on Sunday afternoon, and the Chicago Bears odds movement since then has been the loudest thing on my board. The Bears opened -245 on the moneyline. They sit at -174 now. That is roughly seven points of implied win probability walking out the door on a quarterback headline, and the prediction venues agree with the new price, with Kalshi at 65 percent and Polymarket at 64 percent on Chicago.

The total told the same story, faster. Over opened 45.5 and is now priced at 43.5 at DraftKings, with the Under side sitting at 43. Two full points off a game total is a serious repricing, and it is the cleanest read available: the market does not expect this Bears offense to score the way it was projected to twenty four hours ago. No surprise. Backup quarterback weeks are under weeks until proven otherwise.

Here is the part that has my attention. While the moneyline collapsed toward New York, the spread went the other way: Chicago opened -3 at even money and now sits -3.5 at -105. Somebody laid the half point through the most important number in football while somebody else was selling the Bears outright. Those two moves cannot both be right. My lean is that the moneyline and the prediction markets are the honest signal and the spread is a pricing artifact from a flat -3 +100 open that was never really a three. That is a tell worth sitting on rather than acting on.

I do not have an official designation or a full explanation of the quarterback situation in front of me yet, and I am not going to invent one. What I have is "expected to start," which in this league means Sunday morning can still change it.

What I am watching: whether Chicago -3.5 holds or snaps back through 3 once the inactives are public, and whether that 43.5 keeps bleeding. If the spread follows the moneyline back toward three while the total keeps falling, the market has fully agreed with itself and the soft window is closed. Mind the gap like it owes you money, and keep the stakes entertainment sized. 21+ where legal.
